These historic army barracks, built on Winchester Castle's remains, were converted into residential properties in the late 1990s.
This particular property had remained unchanged for 25 years and exhibited several ill-suited features for a building of this architectural style and grandeur.
A new layout was produced, which included a new appropriate staircase as a focal point. This impressive bespoke staircase sweeps upwards to each of the storeys above, including the converted roof space. A new passenger lift was also fitted, partly concealed under the stairs.
Works included a new kitchen and new bespoke joinery. The property was also sensitively thermally upgraded, and this will include the use of vacuum-insulated glazing on the large existing windows.
A number of repairs were carried out both internally and externally, including to the listed building’s brick and stone façade.
Finally, the clients selected an exciting colour palette, which delivers bright and dynamic spaces to their new home.
