Works are well underway for the refurbishment and extension of Park Cottage together with new Pool, Garden Room and Ancillary Buildings.

Pipe kiln Court, Bridge Street, Winchester

The development of seven 1 and 2-bed flats at Pipe Kiln Court is now complete.  This follows a 12 Month programme of works.

The works were undertaken by the Clydesdale Group Ltd.  During the construction phase a unique collection of Victorian clay pipe kilns were found on made-up ground to the rear (hence the name).  These were recorded by the archaeologist and re-covered. The existing Victorian buildings fronting the street were found to be in poor condition and had to be substantially rebuilt. The team also had to overcome complex drainage, structural and access issues during the build.  

However we are pleased to say that the end result is spectacular piece of contemporary architecture in a unique central Winchester setting and all units have now been sold.      

LABC Partners

Radley House Partnership are pleased to announce that we have joined the LABC Partner Authority Scheme (PAS) for Building Regulations advice and plan appraisals.  

The scheme is designed to help Architectural Practises that operate in multiple locations and deal with many local authorities, and enables Architects to have a one-to-one working relationship with a preferred local authority. In our case we have partnered with Winchester City Council, with whom we already have a good working relationship.

There are many client benefits to such a scheme, such as a single point of contact, consistent approach, improved pre-application service and excellent liaison with other services such as Fire, Police and Environmental Health.

Leaflands, Winchester

Following a successful series of planning consents, works have now commenced on the Mortimer Close site in Kings Worthy, Winchester, to provide 4 new semi-detached dwellings.  The scheme is being carried out by local developers Shorewood Homes following a full detailed design package prepared by Radley House.

Siddington Park Farm

Planning Permission has been granted by Cotswold District Council for 171 Assisted Living Units together with a central facilities building providing Spa & Restaurant facilities, forming a new care village.  It’s planned that the land at Siddington Park Farm in Cirencester will be developed later this year and Radley House Partnership will continue to provide detail design services throughout the latter work stages.

HM Tower of London, Refurbishment of the Flamsteed Tower stairs

Following the success of the new entrance stair to the White Tower designed by Radley House Partnership we are now overseeing the refurbishment of the spiral exit stair.  The high volume of visitors to the Tower, in the order of 1.5 million per year, had caused the Flamsteed Tower stair to become worn out.

The brief from Historic Royal Palaces required an ingenious solution to protect the underlying Norman stone steps and to cater for visitor impact.  A bespoke metal framework is to be concealed beneath the oak joinery.

A significant part of the project comprised the planning of temporary egress and evacuation routes, leading to a significant scaffolding structure erected to the north elevation.

Works are on track to be completed in June.

Sutton United

Will success cost the earth?

We are proud (albeit minor) sponsors of Sutton United and their manager Paul Doswell.

At present the team are in a healthy position with a very good chance to be promoted into the football league for the first time in the clubs history.

There is only one problem, Sutton’s Gander Green playing surface is a 3G pitch - which is used constantly and to great benefit to the club.

As an artificial turf pitch is not allowed Football League and must be replaced by grass.

Should they still push for promotion?

Billingshurst Unitarian Chapel

We were delighted that Billingshurst Unitarian Chapel, together with our client, feature on the current National Churches Trust (NCT) flyer promoting their grant schemes.   High level repairs to this charming eighteenth century listed chapel were successfully completed under the direction of RHP in 2016 with the benefit of grant assistance from NCT and others.

Banksia, Awbridge

New presentation images based on our original designs for a scheme of 5 detached houses in the village of Awbridge.  The scheme is being carried out by local developers Hazely Developments.  Planning consent was achieved in March last year and the site works are due to finish next month.

Christmas and New Year 2017

Following a busy 2017 we are about to enjoy a well-earned break.  As a result, our office will be closed from midday on Friday 22 December and will re-open on Tuesday 02 January 2018.

Hamilton House, Winchester

Following a comprehensive design and development process that included full detailed design and production information packages, construction works for the replacement dwelling are now underway, beginning with groundworks and demolition of the former dormer bungalow.  The project is due for completion in spring/summer 2018.
